How to Stay Healthy After Christmas

Once the holiday season kicks in, it is all too easy to forget all of your fitness and health goals. After all, who can resist all those delish food on the table?

But, as Christmas is now long gone, it is about time for you to get right back on track. January is a new clean slate so you can start all over again and set new goals that you can stick to for the rest of the year.

Here are some simple tips to help you stay healthy when the holiday spirits are finally over:

Start Slowly But Surely

Getting your health and fitness back is a must after the festivities died down. However, it doesn’t mean that you should pressure yourself to reach 100% in just one day. What you should do instead is to start building back up to your normal fitness regime little by little. Slowly but surely is always the best way to go if you want to make sure that you won’t be drained out even before January ends.

Indulge in a Good Breakfast

Breakfast sets your whole day so make sure you return to your habit of having a nutritious and healthy breakfast. Eggs on rye or brown bread, fruits and natural yogurt, overnight oats, and porridge topped with fruits and nuts are just some of the healthy breakfast options you can choose from.

Veggies on Your Plate

Christmas food usually makes you feel bloated and sluggish that exercising is simply out of the question. The best way to beat it is by packing your diet with extra greens. Healthy green vegetables can help alkalize your body and support a good detox.

Have Your Own Food Diary

During the holidays, most people to mindlessly eat whatever they get their hands on. Food is in excess everywhere that you could have constantly stuffed your mouth with them. Now that Christmas is gone, you might want to start writing down everything you eat and drink throughout the day. It doesn’t matter what you eat and how much you had because with the help of the diary, you can learn some important things to help you make new and better choices for the next 12 months.

Prepare in Advance

Always prepare and plan things out the night before. This will help you introduce your fitness goals back to your life. Prepare your gym gear the night before to serve as your extra motivation to get up early and get some exercise. You might also want to prepare your meals if you will be out and about the next day with possibly limited choices of healthy meals.

Get More Sleep

Your health and fitness routine will never be complete if you don’t get enough sleep. This is your chance to get some decent shut eye after all those night outs and parties during the holidays. Give your body and mind a favor by completing your night tie routine and unwinding before you doze off to dreamland.
